Helping Moms Survive Pregnancy-Related Bed Rest
Self-Counsel Press is releasing Bed Rest Mom – Surviving Pregnancy-Related Bed Rest With Your Sanity and Dignity Intact, on April 3. When it is released, it will be the only book on the market focused on helping moms through home and hospital based pregnancy bed rest.
When author Cynthia Lockrey was first put on bed rest for a high-risk pregnancy, she was left searching for information, finding little resources. After a second pregnancy with another bed rest, Cynthia wrote Bed Rest Mom to share her experiences, insights as well as stories from other bed rest moms she has met along the journey.
“Although it contains the word rest, there is often nothing restful about bed rest,” explains author Cynthia Lockrey. “It is an emotional, stressful time for moms and their support team. Moms are likely wrestling with many fears and questions. Whether or not they have the support of family and friends, each bed rest experience is unique.”
“In my personal journey and connecting with other women, I have found that while the medical system does an excellent job of monitoring a mother’s medical conditions, little attention is paid to her mental health. In writing the book, I wanted to give women an honest look at the experience of bed rest, discuss the emotions they may be wrestling with and offer advice on how best to get medical, emotional and mental health support during this difficult time.”
Bed Rest Mom will help moms, and their support team, know what to expect, questions to ask their medical team and tips to surviving home and hospital based bed rests. It also includes exercises aimed at knowing how to ask for help as well as ways to provide routine during these long days.Tags: bed rest bed rest mom Cynthia Lockrey high risk pregnancy maternal health pregnancy
